Grant Trustee informaton

Information on how to enter into a trustee agreement with the Jane/Finch Centre.

Please read all of the information below before filling out the Trustee Request Form.

PLEASE NOTE: We ask that all organizations or groups requesting a trusteeship agreement of any kind to put in the request before their budget has been created and finalized.

  • Entering into a trustee agreement with the Jane/Finch Centre means we act as your charitable partner to help you access and manage funds you may not be eligible to receive directly. We offer three types of trustee agreements, each tailored to different levels of support and project needs.

The Jane/Finch Centre prioritizes projects and groups from the Jane-Finch community, supporting residents from the area.

  • Partnership: A partnership is a collaborative relationship where the Jane/Finch Centre (JFC) works alongside another organization or group to co-deliver programs, services, or events. Both parties contribute resources, knowledge, and staff time toward a shared goal. In a partnership, each organization typically maintains control over its own funding and operations, while working together toward a common outcome.

Trusteeship: A trusteeship is a more formal agreement where JFC, as a registered charity, acts as a financial and administrative trustee for a non-profit, grassroots group, or unincorporated initiative. This allows the group to access grants or donations that require charitable status. In this role, JFC takes on responsibility for receiving and managing the funds, ensuring compliance with funder requirements, and may provide additional support such as budget oversight, reporting, mentorship, and space. The group leads the project, but the Centre holds legal accountability for the funds.

  • Once we receive the trustee agreement request form, and our team confirms we’re able to enter into an agreement, the Jane/Finch Centre will draft a formal contract for both parties to review and sign.

    The signed agreement outlines:

    • The responsibilities of each party

    • The amount of funding JFC will hold on behalf of the group

    • When funds will be received and disbursed

    • Financial and reporting obligations and timelines

This process helps ensure transparency, accountability, and the support needed for a successful project.

  • We offer 2 different trustee agreement types.

    • Grant Trustee: This is an agreement we enter when an organization or group is applying for a grant and needs a registered charitable organization to “trustee” the funds in order for the group to receive their funds.

    • Donation Trustee: This is an agreement we enter when an organization or group is receiving a donation from a funder or individual, and requires a registered charitable organization to receive the funds to provide a charitable tax receipt to the funder/donor.

We ask that all organizations or groups requesting a trusteeship agreement of any kind to put in the request before their budget has been created and finalized.

  • The standard administration fee for entering into a trustee agreement with the Jane/Finch Centre is 10%.
