We offer free tax services to residents within the Jane-Finch and Black Creek communities throughout the year. This includes help with:

• Filing current and past tax returns (up to 10 years of back taxes)

• Making changes to previously filed returns (T1 adjustments)

• Reviewing and responding to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) letters

• Accessing and understanding your Notice of Assessment

Who Qualifies for Free Tax Services?

We can help you file simple personal tax returns if your income is within the following limits:

• Single person: up to $35,000

• Couple (combined income): up to $45,000

• One adult with one child: up to $40,000

  • Add $2,500 for each additional dependent

• Interest income must be under $1,000

Unfortunately, We Cannot Assist If You:

• Filed for bankruptcy

• Have self-employment, rental, or business income

• Have capital gains or losses

• Have investment income over $1,000

• Need to file a return for someone who is deceased

What to Bring to Your Appointment:

Please bring the following documents to help us complete your return:

• Social Insurance Number (SIN) — and your spouse’s SIN, if applicable

• All income slips (e.g., T4, T5007)

• Renters: rent receipt or a letter from your landlord

• Homeowners: property tax bill

• Newcomers: date of arrival in Canada and prior year’s income

• Parents: children’s names, birthdates, and childcare receipts

• Students: tuition slip (T2202A), OSAP interest statement

• Seniors: PRESTO report or TTC passes

• Receipts for medical expenses, charitable donations, or other deductions
